US Mint ups the UHR price $1339 plus shipping

see I knew they was going to do that.

Shoulda woulda coulda.

Imagine when the price hits $2000 the UHR will be $3000

:111::111::111:

To ensure the broadest and most fair product access, a household order limit of twenty-five (25) coins is currently in effect. The household order limit will be re-evaluated on a regular basis and the United States Mint will either extend, adjust or remove the limit as needed.

History Student, if you and I are still around on this website by the time one of these puppies sell for 5K. I will be sending you an ounce of Silver as a thank-you - Pinky & Boy Scout Honor Promise. I originally only bought one, but after reading your investigative reports I bought another one.

By the way I am six foot three, ex tough guy, studying for my brown belt in Krav Maga; I like to hit and get hit, so don't let the Boy Scout and Pinky comment fool ya... Lol

The prices are really rising - like the PHOENIX.

My guess GOLD this month $1150 for a coin

Silver $20 for a silver eagle. :23_1_22:

Kinda happy today i just received my second published novel in hardback.

I"m sure these coins are beautiful, but a ~ $350 premium? Give me a friggin' break.

Give me a low premium 1 oz + 1/4 oz + steak dinner to celebrate for the same price.

Same thoughts I had when I saw the thread title. Chit, you could get a one ounce gold coin and an additional 1/4 ouncer or even 3 1/10 ouncers with some smart shopping, and have a little left over for play money.

1.25>>>1.00
1.30>>>1.00

I don't get why people pay these huge premiums on them but I guess it's the part in me where I prefer more bang for my (worthless) buck.

People pay the premium because they like the coin. Perhaps some see it as a nice investment. Its a beautiful coin with a lot of history behind it. Think about it, the UHR was supposed to be made 100 years ago but due to the lack of technology it could not be made.

Me i have two of them, one graded and one ungraded. Im happy with my purchase. If gold goes to say $1,500 how much will this coin go for ungraded. Imagine a MS70 First Strike or Early Release. $3k easily for the coin

What if TSHTF? Do you think the average person will care if its an early release, a first strike, or slabbed? My guess is most will look at it as a 1 oz gold coin and nothing more.

I'm saying there is anything wrong with collecting what you like, bu like I said earlier I prefer more for my money. I'm no 100 percent convinced that TSHTF will happen, but in the event that it does I would much rather have 1.25 or 1.30 net ounces raw over a slabbed earl release/1st strike 1 oz coin.

True that in worst case scenario people will not care if it is FS or Early release but it is better IMO to have variety than a lot of generic silver or gold. Some choose to have most bang for your buck but I would rather be varied with my stash

I guess it all boils down to whether certain things can/will keep their premium (especially a massive premium like that) in an environment of super high spot prices.

I've been told that they will, but I still have my doubts. Example on a smaller scale - we bought a 2009 Lincoln Silver Dollar commemorative for around $10. It's 90% silver, and less than an ounce at that. But on eBay they're going for $65-75. So I put it on eBay. I'd rather take that money and buy 5 or 6 tarnished SAEs whose raw selling power won't run the risk of disappearing. I know I can get at least spot for each ounce, whereas the Lincoln might bring spot + $20 if silver shot way up and people were just desperately trying to grab as much raw physical as they could.

What I find so dumb about myself is that I cringe at paying virtually anything over spot for gold or silver.... yet I have no remorse whatsoever if I drop $500 at a strip club, or $150 for a dinner.

I admit my own hypocrisy.

Not true - it WAS made and an AU example, of the few left, would run you about $850,000....and MS graded one sells in the millions...........the problem with the coins was that, in those days, gold and silver were sold in coins at banks, and the BANKERS bitched that, with the 3D effect, it wouldn't stack right. (Or as I jokingly tell my students, they made her tits too big!) So they flattened the coin - so it was bigger in diameter, smaller in height and so it would stack easily. Doing that they destroyed the impact of the 3D artwork

I think you will see GOLD hit over $3k a coin before we're done - and these could even sell for more than that, because they re-released it during a period (right now) when gold was higher than it had been for decades and people had very little extra spending money.....and we're in terribly tough times.

Where I would have expected over 100,000 of these sold. I do not think we'lll top much over 90,000, if that.....and, over time, as more of the public sees and learns about the history of this coin, and learning no more will be made, demand will increase (most Americans know nothing of this coin - ask your friends, see if they know!) and therefore, so will the price.

But I did not buy mine for those reasons - I bought mine cause, from the first time I saw a real one when I was 12 - I have always loved it!

Cheers!

According to the pricing schedule, the London gold fixing would need to average above $1,150 for about a week to set the price that high:

http://catalog.usmint.gov/wcsstore/C...ldCoinGrid.pdf

The note in the pricing schedule says the Mint's profit is about 15% of the price on average. The rest is cost of metal and manufacturing cost.

Today's afternoon fixing was only $983.00, and that was the highest so far this week:

http://www.lbma.org.uk/?area=stats&p.../2009dailygold

So if the average goes up another $167 beyond today's fixing, your prediction will probably come true.

That was my best guess too - and my dealer friends - but when they changed the limits national dealers bought hard and heavy to cash in and, in the process, destroyed a lot of the collectable value of the coin. Still always more collectors than coins to go around.......but it COULD have been worth so much more if not for the greed of those dealers.

Either way, I didn't buy mine merely for investment as many of them have.

That GOES to prove that the GOVERNMENT can change the best made plans of MICE and MEN, okay? :ok:

That being said I was just studing Steven Kennedy's work on

GOLD EAGLE in re: Historical Review of the Gold Market - which is just a study of the K-wave in reality.

I want to over-simplify it and say that I think the government is trying to change the WINTER we are in by printing the trillions they are to make it a PHONEY spring - because the results match up.

That's why we can't figure out deflation or inflation because of the games they are playing with all the PIECES. Kinda like a crazy monopoly banker gone wild and giving everyone $500 bills when they pass go - and they are doing crazy things with the new money.

OVER simplified of course - but even a slow wit can figure out my slow-witted (twit) response. Best wishes,

I was thinking the mint would like to see, and be prepared for, a mintage of around 100,000. Add to the fact that dealers purchased a bunch when the limit was raised, suggests the dealers see a good future value as well.

Also, 100k really isn't much, for a coin minted for ONE year only...on a worldwide scale. Just Chinese investors could drive the prize was up.

I only own one, and will never sell it. All other gold is just bullion. I think it's great to have at least one coin that has a chance to be worth more than just the spot price.

I keep posting this and people don't get it.............<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I, unfortunately, grew up with friends in the mafia...........bigwigs...........names........... ..names you'd all know and I am far too smart to post...............<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Anyway, from them I learnt:<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Mafia - Organized crime<o:p></o:p>
Government - disorganized crime.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
OK - funny joke - but in all GOOD jokes - there has to be a layer of truth, or it isn't funny..............here there are two layers of truth:<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
The first, yes, both are crooks............in their own way..........<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
"We're from the government - we're here to help you!"<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Yeah.....right..............frankly, I think I'll just take my chances without your help!<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
But the other - and I learnt this back in my UFO workdays...............<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
They are not smart!!!<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
In fact, the government (and mafia) are both made up of the same sort of stupid people you deal with every single day (some are smart, but not many, and they are at the top)..........except, those in the government are even STUPIDER cause they have been brainwashed and bought the whole government headtrip hook, line and sinker.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
In the old days - when I was knee deep in UFO work (don't ask, I can't tell you) - I used to sneer, snicker and play them openly......I let them know, to their faces, how dumb they were. I had 10 year old nieces that were smarter!!<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
NOW - the point is this.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
My mother loves to say that half of ALL doctors, graduated in the bottom half of their classes.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
So did half of all government officials. **g**<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
These people in office do not know what they are doing, they are scared shitless (you can see it in their eyes!! I haven't seen hardly any of them not look terrified, even Obama who has incredible charisma looks a lot more frightened!) and they THINK (pray) all they have to do is restore confidence, and everyone will go back to what they were doing and things would be fine. In essence, its not an economic problem, its a psychological problem! (They said the same thing about UFOs and Agent Orange and a dozen other things I can think of - its all psychological....or so they hope!)<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
They actually think what they TELL us will sway us more than what our reality around us shows us.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
And you know what...........stupid as they are - they are right - and they have always been right..............<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Because.......<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Half of ALL HUMANS graduated at the bottom half of their classes and, the vast majority, WILL believe pretty much they are told.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
FOLKS - we are doomed..............and not merely cause of the economics we all talk about - cause of something more simple and basic.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
HUMANS - monkeys with car keys and nukes, half of whom graduated at the bottom of their classes!<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
People on GIM (some of whom have evolved past average monkey thinking, some just think they think) try to wake their friends and family, good little monkeys that they are, and then come here whining that their family and friends don't listen. Wise & good monkeys know, you can lead a horse to water but it might only piss in it, so they try to wake their friends but then they move along and put their energy into those who WILL listen and help those who make an attempt to help themselves............<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Trust me, the stupid monkeys will listen in time - when its too late - but even that is a learning experience!
<o:p></o:p>
So we are doomed cause no one really has any answers cause - well, sometimes things get to a point where there ARE no answer except that everyone has to deal with the karma & situation that the entire society of monkeys has created...........or, phrased another way, unlike TV shows where they stop the bomb in the last 2-3 seconds, sometimes the bombs just DO go off in the final seconds and people DO get hurt!<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
But there is good news for the stupid monkeys who will not listen now, or worse, the ones who listen to REALLY stupid monkeys, like Jim Cramer...........<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
"Monkey see - monkey do!"<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Eventually the stupid monkeys see that the smart monkeys were right and decide to emulate them, and so......slowly..........maybe....the monkeys evolve.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
That would be good news, no? <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" o:preferrelative="t" o:spt="75" coordsize="21600,21600"><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><v:path o:connecttype="rect" gradientshapeok="t" o:extrusionok="f"></v:path><o:lock aspectratio="t" v:ext="edit"></o:lock></v:shapetype><v:shape style="WIDTH: 12pt; HEIGHT: 12pt" id=_x0000_i1025 alt="0" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:href="http://goldismoney.info/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Ho/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape>
